Charleston & Aiken

Charleston, NC

even closer to the end of February

....and we were all still sick in Charleston. 😷
We looked about the town for a bit as we drove through...

After days of sick people all in one hotel room in the little, rather boring town of Santee (in the Charleston area),
I was ready to hit the road... to anywhere! 😉

We left the boys back in the hotel to convalesce and headed out for...
Girls' Trip to The Charleston Tea Plantation!

The Charleston Tea Plantation is the only tea plantation in the United States.
It was fascinating to learn how tea is grown, harvested, and produced.
This farm girl was fascinated by this one-of-a-kind harvester,
manufactured to perfectly fit the job of tea harvesting here,
driving between the rows of tea bushes and cutting them at just the right height.

We also visited the Angel Oak.
This tree is estimated to be around 400 years old.
Some say it's the largest tree east of the Mississippi...???
It sure is magnificent.

On our way out of Santee, Tim had found some cotton growing on the side of the road.
We stopped to see what cotton-pickin' would actually be like!

Our drive to Atlanta took us really close to Aiken, so we had to swing through!
Because...
Brie was excited to see the famed equestrian area...
(btw...This is not the equestrian area.  It's downtown.) 😉
...Ellie got to hear a bit about the history of the town from Mr. Aiken...
...but most of all because we couldn't miss seeing this sweet Cut Bank treasure!  💝

Thank you, Jennifer, for the tour of your lovely city!
We're off to Atlanta, the last stop on this leg of the adventure.
